I am Mr. Jack with Califlower Calhoun. We are your announcers for the Mixed MA tournament.  You are in for a great treat tonight as we have a very evening matched event. We have a special treat for you. Abigail is one of the MMA Artists tonight. She says she doesn't practice a specific discipline but takes pieces from different fighting styles for what works best for herself. She calls it Mixed Martial Arts.

Califlower: That's right so we have the mongrel style vs the grandfather of them all Jiu-Jitsu. Which had its own version of this tournament in Brazil. A "take on all comers regardless of style" invitation with their masters years before the idea to televise mixed martial arts tournaments was born.

Mr Jack: So right, now the referee has signaled the start of the match.

Abigail and Helio face off. Abigail moves first to the center ring. Helio attempts a lockup but can't find an opening.

Abigail tries for a lockup up but Helio clinches her up. Abigail maneuvers out of the clinch and attacks head on forcing him back with a strike to the mouth. Helio catches his breath.

Both MMA Artists try for lockups but can't find any openings.

Mr Jack: Abigail has really stymied Helio ground and pound game with her sprawl and brawl strategy.

Califlower: Right you are Mr Jack but Helio has turned heavily to arm blocks and back peddling to keep Abigail's strikes at bay. The question now is it too little too late or has he stemmed the tide?

Repeatedly the MMA Artists can't find an opening at they try to lockup their opponent.

Helio is clinched by Abigail in his latest attempt for a lockup. Abigail turns the clinch into an advantage. Helio maneuvers and attacks Abigail head on. Helio charges back at Abigail. He can't find an opening with his attempt lockup. Abigail can't find an opening either.

Both can't find openings as they try to lock the other up.

Mr Jack: Abigail keeps the pressure up and Helio's defenses are opening. Helio going to need Abigail to make a mistake soon if he is going to win. All he needs is to find one opening.

Abigail maneuvers to a position to be able to attack Helio head on. She lands a solid punch to his mouth. Helio stumbles backwards. Helio catches his breath.

Mixed Martial Arts Tournament - This one has it all!!!

This is the third MMA Tournament I am running. The first focused on the art of Striking within MMA. This Tournament will be focused on the art of Grappling. This Tournament will combine the two into one. Here is the real test to see if I created a cohesive set of rules.
Meet the Martial Artists.

MMA Grappling Championships: Juliana vs Boris

Turn 1: Juliana moves to the center of the Octagon.
Boris moves to the center and attempts to lockup Juliana but she reverses the hold. Boris isn't knocked down because he is hard as nails.

Turn 2: Juliana attempts submission hold. She is successful reducing Boris' strength by 2.
Boris attempts to escape from the submission hold. He passes 1d6 then passes 1d6 again

TAP OUT!

Juliana is our MMA Grappling Tournament Winner.

Game Notes: I was really pleased with the final two NPMAs. One was heavy on Stats and Bonus Dice and the other was the lowest level of stats but had good signatures. This match was quick, not because of unbalanced NPMA contest, it was bonus dice useage. When I rolled Juliana's Bonus Dice for the Attempt for Submission Table I rolled 20 dice and the result was to use 7 Bonus Dice. Even though Boris was using 4 Bonus Dice himself, the additional dice was too much. Juliana had way more than 3+ successes so Boris had to Pass 2d6 against a value of 2 instead of his strength of 4.

I am very pleased with this section. Now I need to see how both the Striker and Grappling rules play together. I guess that means I will have to do a true MIXED tournament.

Second Round: Boris vs Chin

Turn 1: Boris moves the center of the Octagon
Chin moves into the center of the Octagon and attempts a takedown. He locks up Boris but Boris is hard as nails and isn't knocked down. Boris is catch in a standing lockup

Boris is the winner!
